Quanta aims to forge an extraordinary path in the cloud and become 'Unparalleled Quanta'!"
Quanta Chairman Lin dressed up as a blue "Unparalleled Quanta" Na'vi from the movie "Avatar" to boost employees' confidence, saying"
Quanta has found a new direction in the cloud, and will continue to grow over the next five to ten years."
In 2008, affected by the financial crisis, the global industry faced economic downturns. With rapidly declining gross margins in the notebook OEM industry, Chairman Lin resolutely decided that Quanta would not only do OEM manufacturing but also shift towards cloud computing development.
At that time, Chairman Lin proposed a new 3C structure, including Cloud Computing, Connectivity, and Client Devices. After achieving these goals, Quanta would further introduce the 3S elements: System, Solution, and Service, to provide a Quanta-centric cloud industry chain through partnerships.
Starting in September 2009, Quanta aggressively entered the cloud server market, directly manufacturing servers for major technology companies like Amazon, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft, with an expected growth of up to 8% by 2012.
Quanta's understanding of the direction for cloud integration and innovation is opening a new future in the cloud with CAMP.
Quanta is also actively developing its cloud software capabilities, continuously expanding its IT research and development personnel, and established Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT). QCT developed the Cloud Application Management Platform (CAMP). In July 2011, Quanta and Far EasTone jointly launched the "Enterprise Smart Cloud Service" for SMEs.
Through H/W & CAMP integration, cloud equipment, virtualization management (IaaS-NIMBUS), and application development platform (PaaS-NEBULA), Quanta experienced Microsoft's certification and hardware selection. From IDC hardware integration to CAMP, Quanta provides cloud Windows (Hyper-V) and Linux (KVM) virtualization and multitenant functionality.
To embody its commitment to cloud application SaaS coverage, Quanta actively developed the Manufacturing Cloud Services (MCS) with manufacturing industry domain know-how. Integrating CAMP for various manufacturing applications and services, Quanta aims to offer a shared platform for SMEs to co-develop cloud applications, forming an ecosystem.
Creating Cloud Service Software Integration Opportunities
Based on the current practical development and demand for cloud application services in Taiwan, Quanta aims to assist in the rapid establishment of a cloud application development platform to actively collaborate in developing WOA-type application service ecosystems for various departments or industries.
CAMP will assist departments or ISV developers in developing, testing, verifying, and operating to produce industry cloud application solutions, integrating them into services, and gradually constructing a mature ecosystem. Quanta hopes to build cloud private cloud services based on CAMP through partnerships with various application service developers.
